Rate alerts

Know when a lender changes its rates, without checking back every day.

This site checks most lenders' rates every hour, and the rest three times a day. Each time one changes an advertised mortgage, GIC or savings rate, the change is added to a feed: a list your phone or computer can follow and notify you about. There's no sign-up and no email address needed.

How to follow it

  1. Open any feed reader app (sometimes called an RSS reader). Many are free, and some email apps can follow feeds too.
  2. Choose to add a feed or subscription, and paste this address:
https://whatstherate.ca/feed.xml

Your feed reader checks for new changes on its own. The feed covers the last 60 days. Changes to insured (less than 20% down) rates are included too.

Only want one kind of rate? Follow one of these instead:

Alert me when a rate crosses a level

Want to know when the highest 1-year GIC reaches 3.75%, or the lowest 5-year fixed drops to 4.25%? Set an alert here. Each time you open this site, your alerts are checked, and any that are met show at the top of the main page and on My rates. They're saved only in this browser.

Rates change often, and the rate you're offered depends on your situation. Always confirm with the lender. See the rate history for charts.
